Assoc. Prof. Yu Hu

Wuhan University of Technology, China

Biography:

After he obtained his PhD degree in 2015, he continued to work as a European Union Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship that is considered the utmost prestigious fellowship for post-doc researchers. combined his expertise on offshore wind energy structures with my knowledge of wave theory. It is to Yu Hu’s enormous credit that he won through hard competition to be awarded this prestigious EU Marie Curie Fellowship, which he took up in 2019. During his time in Birmingham Yu Hu has developed a ground breaking new theory for offshore wind turbine towers, which draws out the importance of wind, current and wave loading for offshore wind turbine tower by an experimental method. Yu Hu’s approach has been fundamental in nature and the results he has obtained will be transformative for the field. This fundamental approach requires somewhat more time to generate high quality results, so joint publications have been published.

Speech Title: Dynamic response of offshore wind turbine tower under wind, wave and current loading
